Here are the answers and explanations to the true/false questions in the special spring issue of the ACCLS Communicator.

The quiz challenged readers to decide if each statement was true or false. We’ve reprinted the questions here along with the answers just in case you didn’t see the newsletter but would still like to test your understanding of the enhanced RAMP system. Q1: New RAMP is one of many ways associates are promoted into other associate jobs at Verizon.

A1: False. New RAMP is the only way for associates to be considered for promotion to other associate positions.


Q2: Completing and submitting a PED (Personal Employee Data form) is necessary to use new RAMP.

A2: False. The PED has been replaced by the Verizon resume, which you create at VZCareers.


Q3: Consulting job briefs is a key to knowing what job you want and to determining how qualified you are for the job.

A3: True. Job briefs outline duties and qualifications. However, you’ll probably want to do other research such as talking with those in positions you are considering to see whether the job is of interest to you.


Q4: Qualifying on the relevant UTB-R subtests for the job family of the position in which you are interested is required before applying through VZCareers.

A4: True. Being UTB-R qualified (or test-exempt) is a basic requirement.


Q5: Having a higher new RAMP selection classification code in relation to others who qualify increases your chance for getting the job.

A5: True. You are ranked by selection classification code. Those with higher codes have the best chance of getting the job.


Q6: New RAMP is complicated and hard to use.

A6: False. The enhancements to RAMP are designed to make it easier for you to locate and apply for positions within Verizon, and the guidelines have been updated to make the overall process clearer.


Q7: Any college-level course counts toward a position’s education requirements.

A7: False. With new RAMP, It’s important to understand that individual college classes no longer count toward points. To improve your selection classification code, you’ll need to earn a degree that has been identified as job related.


Q8: When creating your new Verizon resume, you must have your supervisor approve information about your skills?

A8: True. Your supervisor used to have approve all the information on your PED. With the new Verizon resume, your experience, performance, attendance and training information will be automatically populated by information from existing Verizon databases. You will still personally have to fill in the skills and education information. When you submit your resume, it will automatically be sent to your supervisor for verification of skills only.
